WHAT IS TEEN ISRAEL ACADEMY?
Our four-part seminar examines aspects of Israeli history and society from before Israel’s establishment until the present. The array of complexities that Israel faces within its own society, with its neighbors, and with the world cannot be easily unraveled. These sessions seek to be a meaningful and relevant introduction to many of the fundamental questions that continue to be at the heart of the people and State of Israel, and world Jewry writ large. These questions are part of a continuing story in which we must find our place and our part.
THE VISION
While often well-intentioned, much of the Israel education offered in the United States is at best superficial, and at worst devoid of historical realities that will eventually confront us all. We believe that grappling with the complexity of Israel - both its miracles and its challenges - should happen well before young people enter college campuses.

Our goal is to provide a new kind of Israel education – one that is not politically motivated (explicitly or implicitly), one that is academically rigorous, and one that provides a unique opportunity for teenagers and their parents to learn in parallel.

APPLICATION
PROCESS
The program is open Miami-Dade high school students, with preference given to juniors and seniors. The final deadline to apply is August 26, 2024 at 9pm EST. The application review process is rolling and early submission is recommended. Final round applicants will be invited to interview, and accepted students will be notified by mid- September.

This program has an intimate, seminar-style format which allows students to engage deeply with the topics at hand. As such, slots are very limited and serious applicants are encouraged to apply early.
When we find, understand, and engage with diversity and diverse narratives and experiences across space and time, learners see their own debates (internal and communal) and questions. In the end, they also see themselves as part of a long and connected history and collectivity. Education and Peoplehood, therefore, go together, and they are both most effective and enduring when they are allowed full reign to help people grow, question, explore, and through it all, connect.
